Position Overview
Ivy Montessori is seeking a warm, nurturing, and dependable Young Children’s Community (YCC) Assistant to join our Montessori learning environment. Working alongside the Lead Guide, the YCC Assistant supports children from approximately 18 months to 3 years of age in a prepared environment that fosters independence, confidence, concentration, and a love of learning.
The ideal candidate is patient, collaborative, and passionate about supporting young children during this important stage of development. This role requires a strong commitment to Montessori principles, respectful caregiving, and maintaining a safe, welcoming classroom community.
Key Responsibilities
Child Care and Classroom Support
Support the Lead Guide in implementing the Montessori curriculum and daily classroom routines.
Assist children with activities that promote independence, self-care, language development, movement, and social-emotional growth.
Provide respectful guidance and redirection consistent with Montessori philosophy.
Observe and support children’s developmental needs while fostering a calm and positive classroom atmosphere.
Assist with toileting, handwashing, dressing, and rest periods as required.
Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times.
Environment Preparation and Maintenance
Help prepare, organize, and maintain the Montessori environment.
Clean, sanitize, and replenish classroom materials and learning areas throughout the day.
Support classroom opening and closing procedures.
Assist in maintaining a beautiful, orderly, and inviting learning environment.
Collaboration and Communication
Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support classroom goals and routines.
Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and respect in all interactions.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
Qualifications
Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) diploma or equivalent education and experience.
AMI 0-3 Orientation Montessori training or Montessori experience is considered an asset.
Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
Valid Vulnerable Sector Check.
Up-to-date immunizations.
Legally entitled to work in Canada.

SUPPORT STAFF
Employment Type: Part-Time
Monday-Friday, 11:00am - 3:00pm
Position Overview
The Montessori Support Staff member plays an important role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-prepared environment for children, families, and staff. Working collaboratively with Montessori educators, the Support Staff assists with supervision, daily routines, and the overall care and well-being of children while upholding Montessori principles and the school's values.
Key Responsibilities
Child Care Supervision and Care
Ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Supervise children outdoors during playground activities.
Support toileting, handwashing, dressing, and other self-care routines as needed.
Assist with meal and snack service while promoting independence and healthy habits.
Maintain a calm, respectful, and positive atmosphere.
Health, Safety and Cleanliness
Follow all school policies, health regulations, and safety procedures.
Ensure snack and lunch dishes are washed and sanitized.
Ensure daily cleaning, sanitizing, and organization of kitchen and washrooms.
Team Collaboration
Work cooperatively with teachers, administration, and fellow staff members.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
Qualifications
Experience working in a Montessori or childcare setting is an asset
Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the first day of work).
Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
Up-to-date Immunization Record
Current Food Handler’s Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to the first day of work).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lift up to 44lbs.
